Neck Pain
Neck Pain is common in all age groups, and the primary reason is poor posture. People knowingly and unknowingly sit in weird postures which strain the muscles, and its most common victims are the neck and back.
Though neck pain is not a symptom of any serious illness, it can worsen and be a major problem.
What to do to avoid neck pain:
1. Sit in a proper position - Whether it's children in school, adults in offices, or the elderly at home, everyone should sit upright at all times. Do not lean or hunch too much. Avoid prolonged sitting and take short breaks to move every once in a while.
2. Watch your sleep posture - It is not possible to sleep in a fixed position but keep a watch on the mattress and pillow you use. Your mattress should not be too soft, and your pillow should not be too high. You can also use pillows around your body for extra support.
3. Do not exert your neck - While in the gym, in any other sports activity, or while lifting something heavy, do not take too much pressure on your neck. Stop doing it if you feel discomfort in your neck, as it can also lead to serious injury. Always warm up properly before beginning any such activity. You can simply do neck rotations to ensure that muscles are warmed up.

Note: Ensure proper form while doing the rotations, and do not jerk it too much.
Remedies to cure your Neck Pain:
1. Heat and Ice Therapy - Applying heat and Ice in the affected area can provide you relief from pain and can even cure the pain entirely over time.
Though knowing when to apply heat and ice is crucial. Applying heat increases the blood flow in the affected area and soothes muscles, but if you feel inflammation, then heat therapy is not recommended. In that case, apply ice, as it will reduce the blood flow and also reduce inflammation and swelling.
2. Exercise and Physiotherapy - Certain neck exercises can help you relieve neck pain. Though getting proper Physiotherapy for Neck pain would be a better option as it will help you eliminate the problem.
3. Over-the-counter medication - You can simply buy OTC medicines to relieve pain, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
4. Massage - A gentle neck massage can be of great help. It will relax your muscles and calm down the pain. Ask someone in your house to give you a massage or get it from a professional massage therapist.
Most cases can be cured with simple remedies that can be done at home, while severe cases must be treated medically. Therefore, if you consider your neck pain severe, you should immediately consult a Physiotherapist for Neck pain.
